Glen Doherty
Principal Investigator, Science to Market
Glen Doherty (MD, PhD) is a principal investigator with Food for Health Ireland focusing on gut health. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1998 with a Gold Medal and 1st Class Hons Degree in Medicine, before completing a PhD in 2006 in eicosanoid signaling in colorectal cancer. Following a period of further specialist training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, he returned to Ireland in 2010 to take up a position as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the Centre for Colorectal Disease at St Vincent’s University Hospital and UCD. He has numerous peer-reviewed publications in the areas of inflammatory bowel disease and colorectal cancer and is Research Director of the Centre for Colorectal Disease. He established INITIative, a national research network for Crohn’s and Colitis research in 2016 and chairs the network steering committee. He has sat on numerous boards and is the current chairman of the Guidelines Committee of the European Crohn’s and Colitis Organisation. He also recently joined the Quality of Care Taskforce of the European Gastroenterology Federation.
